Are the restaurants at Vergenoegd Löw currently open?

Geuwels Restaurant has officially reopened after exciting renovations. Guests can expect beautifully reimagined spaces and enhanced culinary experiences. Clara’s Barn will however reopen later in 2026 and will honour our heritage through bold and modern creativity.

Who is the new head of gastronomy at Vergenoegd Löw?

We are delighted to welcome Michelle Theron as our first full-time head of gastronomy. Michelle, formerly of La Motte and Hazendal wine estates, is Cape Town-born and -bred but has also worked in European Michelin-starred kitchens and travelled widely, both professionally and personally. Throughout her career she has come to see that wherever people live out their food cultures with authenticity, they are telling the story of who they are.

What does the head of gastronomy do?

In this newly created role, Michelle leads all dining and beverage-pairing experiences across the estate, ensuring a cohesive culinary vision.

Can I still enjoy food and wine experiences during this time?

Yes. While our restaurants are closed, the Wine Lounge remains open with a range of experiences to enjoy:

  • Selected Wine Tastings. Taste Vergenoegd Löw wines where they are grown, crafted, and matured for a full sensory appreciation of our unique terroir.
  • Curated Meat & Cheese Platters. Enjoy our new platters featuring cured meats and selected cheeses, showcasing a panoply of fine flavours from local artisans.
