Ancient Soils, Timeless Roots

Since 1696, Vergenoegd Löw has maintained an unbroken tradition as one of South Africa’s oldest working farms. Our story is rooted in an ancient seabed, where lime-rich soils grant our wines their hallmark precision and distinctive salinity today.

The name Vergenoegd – Dutch for ‘to be content’ – has stood as our promise for over 300 years. It is a place of enduring constancy where heritage, Cape Dutch architecture and the rhythms of nature converge within a living national monument.

History Restored

Today, this heritage is experiencing a visionary renaissance through the European Heritage Project. Under the stewardship of Professor Dr Dr Peter Löw, the historic ensemble, including the 1773 Homestead and the original perimeter ring wall, has been meticulously restored.

As a WWF Conservation Champion, we unite this historical depth with regenerative agriculture. Vergenoegd Löw is an authentic working farm that demonstrates how the legacy of the past inspires the innovations of tomorrow.
