Daily commute at 9:00 and 12:00
Vergenoegd Löw’s famous Indian Runner Ducks are still here, a key part of our integrated, sustainable farming. They are busy in the vineyards. They eat snails and insects so that we do not have to use harmful pesticides.
They wander across the Homestead grounds daily at 9:00 and 12:00. Or you might catch sight of them as they make their way past the Manor House on their way to the vineyards or coming for a swim before heading back home.
The best way to see them is to book breakfast or lunch at Geuwels Restaurant or lunch at Clara’s Barn or a wine tasting. We have hundreds of these ducks. They protect our vineyards. We provide ducklings to other wine farms who want to follow our example of sustainable farming. To ensure the safety and well-being of these hardworking ducks, we kindly request that pets not be brought onto the premises. Your cooperation helps us maintain a peaceful environment for our dedicated feathered friends.
We also have Dexter cattle that graze in the vineyards on the biodiversity plants planted between the vineyards while they fertilize the vineyards. We use and re-use water, drip irrigation, solar power and farm in a way that minimizes any human and mechanical impact on our natural and farming resources to reduce our carbon footprint. It is a philosophy we live every day.
We hope you enjoy your breakfast, lunch or wine tasting and a surprise meeting with our ducks.
