Our estate enjoys a unique position between the Helderberg Mountains and False Bay. It’s at this meeting point that our vineyards are cooled by fresh ocean breezes – infusing the fertile soil with a maritime character, and allowing the grapes to ripen slower. This distinctive terroir, situated on the lowest altitude in South Africa, is one of the aspects that lend our wines their extraordinary taste.

Vergenoegd Löw is the meeting point where many, seemingly contrasting, ideas converge to create something new and exceptional. It is where heritage meets innovation and where arid dunes meet fertile earth. It’s where natural beauty, quacking Indian Runner Ducks, our dew-kissed vineyards and soil and delectable wine meet to awaken the senses.

Our estate is the meeting point between two native flora, namely Cape Flats Sand Fynbos and Swartland Shale Renosterveld. Cape Flats Sand Fynbos was once the most widespread vegetation in Cape Town. Today, it is critically endangered with less than 2% conserved in small pockets around the Cape. Cape Flats Sand Fynbos is one of the richest and most beautiful fynbos types, with bright blooming Proteoid and Restioid species. Renosterveld is rich in shrubs from the daisy family (Asteraceae) and bulbous plants, such as orchids, irises and lilies.

This vegetation type is characterised by low, small-leaved shrubs comprising ericoids with a ground layer of grasses. We are dedicated to preserving the natural beauty of our land with a number of conservation initiatives documenting and protecting the unique fynbos that thrives on our farm.

Vergenoegd Löw The Wine Estate is the meeting place where families and friends get together to create unforgettable memories.
