In the Cape Floristic Region, the smallest of the world\u2019s six floral kingdoms, this is where Swartland Shale Renosterveld meets Cape Flats Sand Fynbos, around the wetlands of the Eerste River estuary, making it an area of extraordinarily high biodiversity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In 2015, Vergenoegd was acquired by German lawyer and entrepreneur Peter L\u00f6w, founder of investment group LIVIA and chief-curator of the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/europeanheritageproject.com\/weingut-vergenoegd\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">European Heritage Project<\/a>. Although the estate had fallen into a state of disrepair, he decided to purchase it for two key reasons: its rich heritage and its potential to produce exceptional wines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Professor L\u00f6w set a bold course to achieve excellence, built on four pillars:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Heritage\u2014 one of the Cape\u2019s oldest, most intact and also most interesting wine\u00a0farms.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Wine\u2014 grown in unusually cool conditions, very near the sea, on diverse soils including limestone, anomalous in the Stellenbosch district, resulting in a distinct flavour profile.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Sustainability\u2014 preserving the rich natural biodiversity of the land while practising regenerative farming to ensure that Vergenoegd L\u00f6w thrives for centuries to come.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>People\u2014 a select team chosen for their skills, attention to detail, commitment and above all, passion.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Today, Vergenoegd L\u00f6w\u2019s timeless beauty has been restored, along with its proud traditions of winegrowing and hospitality.
