Meet Loyd Chapfika,
tasting room ambassador at Vergenoegd Löw Wine Lounge

8 November 2024

Loyd Chapfika, is here to elevate your tasting journey with nearly a decade of experience and a passion for people.

At Vergenoegd Löw Wine Estate, we pride ourselves not just on our world-class wines but also on our incredible team members who make every visit unforgettable. Today, let’s raise a glass (of our finest, of course) to one of our shining stars: Loyd Chapfika – the man who can recommend a wine for your palate and perhaps even serenade you in Kiswahili.

Loyd joined us in February 2024, but his love for the wine industry started in 2016 at Peter Falke Wines. With nearly a decade of experience, he brings a wealth of knowledge and enthusiasm to our team.

One of the things that truly sets him apart is his passion for connecting with people from all walks of life. He believes wine is an universal language, and he proved it when he greeted a guest from Kenya in Kiswahili. Just picture the guest’s surprise when he realised he was getting a wine tasting from someone who could speak a bit of his language – definitely a conversation starter!

Thanks to that guest, who happens to be a lecturer at Nairobi University, Loyd is now on a mission to master Kiswahili. Who knew that wine tasting could come with a side of language lessons?

When it comes to wine recommendations, he has a simple philosophy: “Do what your heart tells you.” Whether you’re into bold reds or crisp whites, he’s got your back.

Loyd invites everyone who visits us to watch the iconic Indian Runner Ducks as they wander across the Homestead grounds on their way to the vineyards daily. Imagine sipping a glass of wine as our charming ducks waddle by…

In his downtime, you might find Loyd exploring other wine farms, indulging in tastings, or cheering on his favourite soccer team. He believes that every wine adventure is an opportunity to learn.

So next time you visit our estate, make sure to say hi to Loyd Chapfika. He’ll be the one with a glass in hand, a friendly smile, and perhaps a few new phrases in Kiswahili. Here’s to great wine, delightful company, and the wonderful connections we make along the way! Cheers!
